I feel these images are very similar and good for comparison. Firstly, the props and clothing are very similar. Nearly all black with a guitar in hand. A consequence of this is the posture with the guitar, both seem to have a smug and powerful posture with a stern facial expression. Despite this, Johnny Cash has an objective gaze whilst my model has a subjective gaze. The angle is a long shot, capturing the whole body of the model and angled upwards to connote power. When designing my cover, I cropped into the image to make it a midshot. Another similarity is the high key lighting and hight contrasts that make the images particularly engaging. Both models share similar demographic qualities like: gender and race. Although they are very different ages from very different places. The origins and class of each model is not apparent in the pictures, although there is a "country" feel, made apparent by the acoustic guitar. I feel the models can represent any of the social classes equally. At one end of the spectrum is those empathising with the suggested country/grimey background and at the other, the respect for quality music. Saying this, my magazine is focused at the ABC social classes and mainly aimed at mainstreamers, individuals and succeeders. I have tried to steer away from any conventional stereotypes and if the magazine were to be in circulation, each cover would be stylistically similar but represent different artists and genres, this is so it is not brandished as genre/image focused magazine.
In all, my magazine is pro-consumerist, this is represented in the contents page where I have left many spaces for advertisements, this essential for the growth and economical welfare of the magazine and company. Due to the target audience of the magazine, ABC, some adverts would be for more expensive and luxurious products than a solely mainstream magazine.
