The main concept for my magazine is largely based around those shown above: "Uncut", "Q" and "Rolling Stone". I am aiming to base my magazine on those above due to the diversity showcased on the front; covering various musical genres and eras. Although the above magazines are very similar, there are unique differences that I will take into account when designing my magazine. For instance: "Uncut" is a fairly general music magazine incorporating music of all genres and all eras, it is usually low key. "Q" offers more popular/more mainstream musical selections, but still offers articles in other areas, furthermore, the overall image of the magazine is far more sophisticated than the other two. "Rolling Stone" is more specific to rock music but still encapsulates other genres. I like these magazines for the reason they are non genre and era specific, this leads to a lot of opportunities as to what can be included. When I design my magazine, there are various ideas and concepts I like and will therefore include. I am going to cover various musical genres/eras as to attract a wide audience range, in addition, I will promise album and gig reviews, articles, interviews, good pictures and free items. I will also have similar front cover designs as those above, especially "Uncut" and "Rolling Stone" which offer a vintage yet sophisticated look. As well as the previously mentioned similarities, there will be some differences. I am hoping to feature more "underground" artists as well as mainstream music. My magazine will be aimed at a more cultured/media related audience. To do this I will advertise gig listings, festival dates, film listings, theatre productions, exhibitions, musical equipment and photographic and videographic equipment. Furthermore, there will be an inclusion of more genres to make the magazine reach to a wider audience. Hopefully expanding people's knowledge and enjoyment of music.
You've made a great start Billy.
