Evaluation of My College Magazine

My final cover and contents page has good points and bad points. I feel the intertextual reference to "iPod" was a strong move. To do this I carefully considered a colour scheme of three colours which I feel worked very well. I used mainly black, white and green, however, I used various shades of green throughout the cover to highlight different things. In addition, I am very happy with the way I produced the masthead. I think the reference to "iPod" makes "iMag" very eye catching and it is also intriguing to see how the magazine has adopted the style of "iPod". Furthermore, I feel the intriguing bright green background with contrasting imagery and texts makes the magazine very appealing and eye catching. I also maintained one font throughout, a font similar to the one used by "iPod" i think this is effective and makes the magazine more authentic in relation to "iPod". Finally, I am particularly pleased with the layout, I am happy with the way the coverlines flow around the silhouette and draw your eyes across the page in an obscure manor.

On the otherhand, there are things I do not like about my magazine cover. I feel I could have added more coverlines and selling lines. In addition, I forgot to add a barcode which is very detrimental to the overall look of the image. I am also not fond of the size of model/"iMag man," I feel the image would have been more impactful if the model was larger and cropped into. This would higlight the magazine alot more.

I felt I was fairly competant at using Photoshop before this course, but when designing my magazine I learnt alot more about Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop in general. I especially learnt quicker ways of doing things and ways to alter text.
